Defining Connection and Synchronization Requirements
You define when the database synchronizes with the central database, and the connection settings for stores warehousing a database at the store.
Delay Disconnect
Used primarily with a dial-up ISP. You can enter a time up to 99 minutes to hold the line after a store has connected to the central database. However, if you have another transaction within that time, the delay disconnect time resets back to zero and starts over.
For example, your ‘Delay Disconnect’ time is 10 minutes. You authorize a gift card transaction that requires your store to connect to the central gift card database at 12:00 pm. If you do not have any gift card transactions in the next 10 minutes, the line disconnects. However, in this example another transaction occurs at 12:09 pm, the disconnect time resets and would not disconnect until 12:19, barring any further gift transactions.
Database Synchronization Frequency
Select either to connect twice a day at specific times or at intervals. It is suggested that you enter at least two synchronization times during non-business hours, once in the morning and once after close of business.
