MemberLink FAQ Q. What is MemberLink? A. MemberLink enables you to augment your Loyalty system by allowing cardholders to access Web pages where they can register/update their profile information and view their current Stored Value/Loyalty balances. Q. How can I use MemberLink? A. You can use MemberLink to enable your members to take control of their bonus plan balances. For example, a cardholder on a points plan can access MemberLink from home, via the Internet, and see that they are only 15 points away from earning a reward. The cardholder comes in to your restaurant and knows they are earning a reward that evening, and because the reward is 50% off the entire guest check it may lead to increased spending and the cardholder trying your new dessert menu. Q. Is the MemberLink feature secure? A. Absolutely! Before your members can access their profile/balance information, they must log in to MemberLink. You define the level of validation needed at login. Additionally, all transactions sent between the browser and the MemberLink server use the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol. Q. What is “ePin”? A. ePin is an added security validation feature for Stored Value/Loyalty cards. The ePin value is listed on the back of a card, similar to a signature panel code on the back of most Visa and Master Cards. In order to utilize ePin, your must order your cards with this feature. Q. What is CSS? A. Cascading Style Sheets. Refer to the World Wide Web Consortium, or W3C, for more information on cascading style sheets. Q. Why would I want to customize my own style sheet? A. By customizing the style sheet and placing it on your Web server, you can control page backgrounds and colors. You can even link to an image on your server and use it as the background image. You control how the page looks and the fonts that are used. This gives you the highest degree of control, but it does require you to be comfortable editing your own CSS file. Q. Where do I obtain the URL for the consumer Web site? A. The URL is generated each time you launch the MemberLink Configuration wizard from the Enterprise.com Web site. Simply copy the URL and paste it in an area for future use when you are ready to create the link on the consumer Web site. Q. What if I have existing cards already being used that have more than 14 digits? A. Open an Aloha Insight support incident to have a card transform developed. The transform runs at the store level to use your existing card numbers in Aloha Loyalty and Stored Value. If you want to use MemberLink, contact support to have the transform also performed at the server level when the user enters their number in MemberLink. Q. What is a card transform? A. A card transform uses the existing number and transposes it to a unique 14 digit number for Loyalty or Stored Value. Aloha Loyalty and Stored Value require you to use a 14 digit card number. If you have cards already being used by customers that uses a different amount of numbers, you need to transform these card numbers to a 14 digit sequence. Aloha Insight develops an algorithm that runs behind the scenes to transform existing numbers into a series Aloha Loyalty and Stored Value can use. Q. What card numbers do my customers see if the card is being transformed? A. Your customers do not see the transformed number, the original number the customer typed into MemberLink still appears on the screen. The transform is transparent to the customer.
