Configuring Stored Value Settings on Cards
On the Stored Value Settings tab you assign the following Stored Value-specific characteristics to the card type:
Card Purchase Value
Use the Card Purchase Value settings to predetermine the specific value of the Stored Value card, such as $25.00; or allow the customer to determine the amount of the gift card at the time of purchase. You can optionally allow the customer to add additional value to a Stored Value card after the purchase of the card.
Prompt for card purchase value
Identifies the gift card type as an open value gift card. The customer purchasing the gift card determines the amount of the gift card at the time of purchase.
Card purchase value is set to
Indicates the predetermined amount of the gift card type. Select ‘Card purchase value is set to,’ and type in the numeric value for the gift card in the adjacent text box. If you have a preset amount on the gift card, you cannot add value to the gift card after purchase.
Allow customer to add value to the card
Indicates the customer can reload or add additional value to a gift card after the initial purchase. ‘Allow customer to add value to the card’ is active if you select ‘Prompt for card purchase value.’
Do not clear the ‘Allow customer to add value to the card’ check box if the card type is used as a Loyalty card with a bonus plan that rewards customers with adding value to their Stored Value card.
To allow the customer to add value to a gift card:
1.
2.
3.
Remaining Card Balance
Use the Remaining Card Balance settings to determine what happens with the remaining balance on a gift card.
Adjust card balance and do not give cash back
Indicates the card decrements by the amount used, and retains any remaining balance on the gift card. You cannot give the balance on the card to the customer in cash.
Give balance of card back as cash
Indicates the cardholder can receive cash back on the remaining balance.
Do not adjust card balance or give cash back
Indicates the guest does not receive a balance or cash back on a purchase. The POS reports the unused balance as “Not Redeemed.” For example, you have a $10.00 promotion card that you give to customers that have a bad experience in your restaurant. They can use this card on their next visit. If they do not spend the entire $10.00 on the card, the customer does not receive any balance; however, if they spend more than $10.00, they would be responsible for the extra balance on the guest check.
Expiration Date Settings
Use the options in the Expiration Date Settings to configure when the card expires. The system checks to verify the expiration is at least five years from the sale date.
No Expiration Date
Indicates the card type does not have an expiration date. If the gift card type allows the customer to add value to their gift card, select ‘No Expiration Date.’
Expires In () days after sale
Indicates the number of days after purchase the card expires. Select ‘Expires In () days after the sale’ and type the number of days after purchase the gift card will expire in the adjacent text box.
If you configure the gift card to allow customers to add value to the card, you cannot select ‘Expires In () days after the sale.’
Allow expired cards to be redeemed () days after expiration
Indicates the number of days after the gift card expires that the system will approve the gift card. This is a type of “grace period” for your gift cards.
Sales Redemption Dates
Use the options in the Sales Redemption Dates settings to determine the dates your stores can sell the card type, and when they can begin redeeming the card type. If the card type is a combination Stored Value/Loyalty card, the Sales Redemption Dates settings do not affect Loyalty.
Cards can be sold starting on
Specifies the date the store can start selling the card type. By default, the current date populates the text box.
Cards can not be sold after
Specifies the date the store must stop selling the card type. This setting is optional; typically the store will stop selling the gift card when they run out of issued cards.
Cards can be redeemed starting on
Specifies the date the customer can begin using their gift card. Leave this text box blank, if the cardholder can begin using their card immediately.
MemberLink ePin Validation Settings
Use the MemberLink ePin Validation settings to define the validation your members use when logging in to the MemberLink Consumer Web site to access their current Stored Value balance. You can use an ePin number to validate all cards or a range of cards, when they log in to the MemberLink consumer Web site.
Do not require ePin validation
Indicates the member does not enter an ePin validation number on this card type.
Require ePin validation for all card numbers of this card type
Indicates all card numbers within this card type use ePin validation to log in to MemberLink.
Require ePin validation for all card numbers within the range of: X through X
Indicates all cards within the specified range require ePin validation to log in to MemberLink. Type a beginning and ending nine-digit range of numbers in the text boxes, and all cards within that range require ePin validation. If you type a beginning number in the first text box, such as 1, and an ending number, such as 5000, in the second text box; the system pads the numbers with the appropriate number of zeroes when you save your settings. If you leave the second text box blank, all cards from the beginning number and higher require ePin validation.
ACH Settings
If using the Aloha Stored Value ACH feature, you designate which card series you want to include in the Stored Value transaction file that is sent to your ACH processor. For example, you want the Stored Value series 12345 to process on the ACH network, you need to designate card series 12345 as a series included in the ACH request file.
Include this card type’s sales/redemptions in daily file posted to ACH Network
Indicates you are designating the sales and redemptions for this card type to be included in a daily Stored Value transaction file submitted to your ACH processor.
Group ID
Contains the unique ten-digit identification number that RBSLynk provides you, to identify the funds pool to use for the card series. Contact Worldpay to obtain the ‘Group ID’ number associated with the card series.
