About Custom Line Items

A line item is a specific piece of data you want to include in a custom report or to set an alert threshold. The Custom Line Item wizard provides you the ability to create new line items when one of the Aloha Insight line items does not provide the information you need. Build custom line items using the following:

•	System line items

•	Custom line items

•

Numbers

•	Mathematical operators

For example, you want to know the average void amount per hour at your store. To obtain this information, create the following custom line item:

Void Dollars / number of hours open = average void dollars per hour

In the example, Void Dollars is a system line item provided by Aloha Insight. The division symbol is the mathematical operator, and number of hours open is a variable that equates to the number of hours your store is open.

After creating the custom line item, assign the line item to a custom report using the Reports Builder wizard, or to an alert using the Alerts Setup wizard.

Access the Custom Line Item wizard on the Aloha Insight home page under the Aloha Insight heading. Use the Security Class Setup wizard to define who has access to the Custom Line Item wizard, and what they can do in the wizard. For example, you can enable users to create and edit their own custom line items, and prevent them from deleting custom line items created by other users.
