About Reports Builder The Reports Builder wizard enables you to create custom reports. Aloha Insight provides numerous industry standard reports to use; however, you may need a report not supplied. Using Reports Builder wizard you can build a report with the information you deem important. You determine the format, the headings, and the line items on the report. A custom report consists of three elements: Element Description Report Settings Includes the name, description, report style and category for the custom report. Report Groups Contains user-defined groupings within your custom report. This allows you to break the report into logical groupings. For example, you can break your report into Voids and Comps Line Items Data elements from within your Aloha Insight data warehouse you can include in the report. These can be a system-supplied line item provided by Aloha Insight or a custom line item created by you using the Custom Line Item wizard. Void Dollars by Selected Void Type is an example of system supplied line item. The following diagram demonstrates the structure of reports created in the Reports Builder wizard: Figure 58 Reports Builder Components You must define one or more report groups for each custom report, and each report group must contain at least one line item. In our example, there are two report groups, each with two line items, included on the report group. The Labor Wages report group contains the line items ‘Break Hours - Paid’ and ‘Break Hours - Unpaid’ line items. The Sales Totals report group contains the ‘Gross Sales’ and ‘Net Sales’ line items. When you build reports in the Reports Builder wizard, you define the report groups and the line items within the report groups. Your security class determines the custom reports you can access. For more information on security classes, refer to Security Class Setup.
