Working with the Polling Configuration Tab Use the Polling Configuration tab to configure the day you want Aloha Insight to start polling, and to enter information about the Internet service provider used at the store. Polling Setup Poll Start — Specifies the date Aloha Insight starts polling the store. Type the date in the ‘Poll Start’ text box. If the store does not have historical data, enter the same date you entered in ‘Open Date’ on the Store Setup tab. If the store has historical data, you can enter a date up to 30 days prior to the install date to have Aloha Insight support gather this data to populate your Aloha Insight data warehouse. The Auto Repoll agent creates an event for every date. If a date is missing, Auto Repoll keeps creating events for the missing date. To keep this from happening, make sure there is Aloha POS data for every date. The ‘Poll Start’ date is different from the ‘Open Date.’ Exercise caution when changing the ‘Poll Start’ date by ensuring the store contains historical data for all dates from the ‘Poll Start’ date to the ‘Open Date.’ Poll End — Designates the date for Aloha Insight to no longer poll the store. This is required, so when setting up the store for the first time, enter a date well into the future to keep Aloha Insight polling the store. Other Connection Settings Use the options under Other Connection Settings to select how the store dials settings for polling, if the store is using an ISP to poll data. Site Requires 10-digit dialing — Indicates the store must dial all 10 digits to connect to the Internet. Site Requires a 9 to be Dialed for Outside Line — Indicates the store must dial a 9 to obtain an outside line. Primary Polling Options The Primary Polling Options Setup section pertains to the Internet service provider (ISP) for the store. This information enables Aloha Insight support staff to properly configure new stores and set up new components for all stores to properly connect and poll. Site has high-speed Internet access (DSL, Cable ISDN) — Indicates the store uses DSL, cable, or ISDN to connect to the Internet. Site has dial-up Internet access — Indicates the store uses a dial-up connection when polling. Dial -up Internet Service Provider name — Specifies the name of the Internet service provider (ISP).
