Configuring the Alert Message
Use the Message tab to define where to send the alert and the message format.
Alert Send Options
Send Alert Message to an Email Address, Pager or Cell Phone — Select this option to send an alert to an email, pager, or cell phone. Aloha Technologies recommends that you use the ‘Short Message’ format to ensure subscribers receive an alert that is not cropped.
How to Send Alerts to Pagers, Email Addresses, and Cell Phones
Aloha Insight uses the email address as defined in the Email Address or Alternate Email Address fields in User Setup to send alerts to pagers, email addresses, or cell phones. If the cell phone or pager address for a user differs from what is defined in his or her User Setup e-mail settings, you will need to create a “dummy user” and add the desired cell phone or pagers address in User Setup.
For example, Jane’s e-mail address as defined in User Setup is [email protected]. This is the e-mail address where she receives her daily flash report. In addition to receiving her daily flash report to this e-mail address, she also wants to receive an employee approaching overtime alert to her mobile pager. The address of her mobile pager is [email protected]. Create another user account specifically for Janes’s pager by performing the following:

Create a user called Jane’s Pager in User Setup.
2.
Select Use Alternate Email on the User Setup screen.
3.
Enter the email address for her pager, [email protected], in the ‘Alternate Email Address’ text box.
4.
Add both accounts in the ‘Subscriber Group’ list box on the Subscriber tab in the Alerts wizard, when setting up the alert.
Send Alert Message to the Insight Alerts Viewer
Sends the alert to the Alerts Viewer. Select one of the following options:
Notify Subscriber of Alert at login to Insight
Notifies subscribers when they log in to Aloha Insight they have alerts in the Alerts Viewer. This is the default selection. If you clear this check box, the alert message is sent to the Alerts Viewer, but the subscriber of the alert is not notified of the alert when they log in to Aloha Insight.
Remove Alert from Alerts Viewer after X Days
Enter the number of days before Aloha Insight purges the alert from the Alerts Viewer. If you do not enter a number, the default number of days before purging the alert is 30 days. You can delete alerts manually from the Alerts Viewer.
Alert Message Format
The text box displays the message you enter on the Custom Message screen.
Long Message
Displays a default long message based on the alert settings. The long message is the default message sent to the Alerts Viewer. The message displays to the right as a read-only message.
Short Message
Displays a default short message based on the alert settings. Select the short message format when sending an alert message to an email, cell phone, or pager. The message displays to the right as a read-only message.
Custom Message
Defaults to the long message text. The message displays to the right as a read-only message.
To change the message, click to display the Custom Alert Message screen.
After you define all criteria for the alert and test the alert message, click Save to save the alert. You return to the Alert Setup Welcome screen.
