Configuring a Custom Alert Message

As you build alert messages, you can use the predefined message text for the alert, or create custom alert messages with keywords, drilldowns, and text. An alert message can contain up to 500 characters, including special characters.

Add keywords or drilldown links to an alert message by selecting either ‘Keywords’ or ‘Drilldowns’ from the Custom Message Options drop-down list. The available keywords or drilldowns appear in the ‘Custom Message’ list box. To insert a keyword, or drilldown, or text into an alert message, type or make the applicable selection and click Insert.

Keywords

Keywords are predefined data elements that reside in the data warehouse. You insert keywords to reflect a specific piece of data in the alert message. See the example below.

Select one of the following keywords to insert it into the message text:

AlertName

— Inserts the name of the alert.

AreaName

— Inserts the area monitored by the alert.

AlertCondition

— Inserts the alert condition, such as Between, Less Than, or Greater Than.

AlertThreshold

— Inserts the defined value that when met, triggers the alert.

AllStores

— Inserts all the stores monitored by the alert.

BeginningAlertThreshold

— Inserts the defined value that sends an alert if the result is greater than the value, and less than the ‘EndingAlertThreshold’ value. This is used only when AlertCondition=Between.

EmployeeID

— Inserts the ID of the employee.

EmplpyeeName

— Inserts the name of the employee.

EndingAlertThreshold

— Inserts the defined value that sends an alert if the result is less than this value, and greater than the BeginningAlertThreshold value. This is used only when AlertCondition=Between.

InsightStoreID

— Inserts the Aloha Insight store ID.

InsightStoreName

— Inserts the name of the store entered in Aloha Insight.

LineItemValue

— Inserts the calculated value of the selected line item.

RegionName

— Inserts the region monitored by the alert.

RangeofDays

— Inserts the range of dates on which the alert is reporting.

StoreGroup

— Inserts the store group monitored by the alert.

The keyword displays within percent signs.

Example: Your target labor % for %StoreGroup% should not be %AlertCondition%%AlertThreshold%.

The example alert message would read as follows:

Your target labor % for Southwest Store Group should not be Greater Than 60%.

If you change the Alert Condition Setting to ‘Between’ on the Content tab, you must add the ‘%BeginningAlertThreshold%’ and ‘%EndingAlertThreshold%’ keywords to the custom message and delete the keyword ‘%AlertThreshold%’ (remember to type the word “and” between these two keywords for readability purposes).

If you change the ‘Create a Single Alert for all Stores’ condition to the ‘Create a Separate Alert for each Store’ condition on the Stores Monitored tab, delete the keyword %AllStores% and insert the %InsightStoreName% and/or %InsightStoreID% keyword(s).

If you change the ‘Create a Separate Alert for each Store’ condition to the ‘Create a Single Alert for all Stores’ condition on the Stores Monitored tab, delete the %InsightStoreName% and/or %InsightStoreID% keyword(s) and insert the %AllStores% keyword.

Drilldowns

Drilldowns are links within the message text that enable the subscriber to activate Drilldown Viewer and perform further analysis.

You must send all alert messages that contain drilldown links to the Alerts Viewer.

The drilldown link displays in the message within percent signs.

Example: New Apps %Category Sales%for Dallas is $200.00 for 11/09/01. This is Less Than the predefined amount of 300.00.

If you click on Category Sales, you open the Drilldown Viewer application. You can quickly view detailed data for your Dallas store.

Type your own free-form message in the ‘Custom Alert Message’ text box.

Editing a Custom Alert Message

Click a keyword or drilldown to display a pop-up menu. The pop-up menu appears with the following options:

•	Edit the keyword or drilldown

•	Delete the keyword or drilldown

•	Clear the message

When you select ‘Edit Keyword’ or ‘Edit Drilldown,’ a secondary pop-up menu appears with the keywords or drilldowns you can insert.
