Configuring Approval Settings You can automatically approve gift cards without receiving authorization from the central database or in-store database. Auto-approval can happen during connection failures, and when the gift card amount applied to the check is below the auto approve level. Set the auto-approve levels to reduce the number of connections to the central database. Auto-Approve Cards Aloha Stored Value always attempts to verify the card balance with the central database or local store cache; however, if Aloha Stored Value cannot connect, you can auto-approve the gift card. You determine the amount for which you are willing to auto-approve the gift card. If you auto-approve a card and it is not a valid card, this is the amount you are willing to risk. When a semi-connected store processes a gift card transaction, Aloha Stored Value checks the local database first and then tries to connect to the central database. If Aloha Stored Value cannot connect to the central database for verification, Aloha Stored Value auto-approves up to the auto-approve amount specified. When a virtual store processes a gift card transaction and cannot connect to the central database for verification, Aloha Stored Value auto-approves up to the auto-approve amount specified. Aloha Stored Value auto-approves up to the auto-approve amount, which is not necessarily the transaction amount. For example, if the total transaction is $20.00 and the auto-approve amount is $10.00, Aloha Stored Value auto-approves $10.00. The customer is responsible for paying the remaining amount not auto-approved. In this example, it is $10.00. Cards not in database or auto-approved Enter an amount to approve cards when they are not found in the local database. Aloha Gift Card uses the amount entered here during connection failures to verify gift card transactions. During connection failures, you can optionally reject cards that are not in the local database and are over the amount entered in the Auto-Approve Cards setting.
